Systematic assembly of words The use of words is both fun and rewarding but not an easy thing. For me I like to challenge myself in both writing and in vocabulary. One of my favorite exercises is constructing short paragraphs that tell a story with words that all start with the same first letter. They are normally not normal and can test your creativity as much as your Vocabulary. Here is an example... Angrily Alice applied aneasthesia, Adam, acting alone, allowed amphibious Anglicans another attempt, assuming again, actors aren't anarchists. As I said they test imagination just as much as vocabulary and it truth, this is one of my favorite things to do when I just need to write and I either cannot or should not be working on projects I am currently in. It really gets you going. I normally start at 'A' and work my way through the alphabet. The above example is rather short I have ranted on for some time on some letters. There is likely some examples in my 'Random things' section. Word Sets This is an exersize I do to combine words. I have come to like to do mine in 3's or 4's The trick here is to combine words that make sense together in sets. here is a run on the 3 set 1 Canned 2 1 tuna 3 2 1 fish 3 2 salad 3 sandwich Every 3 words work together. This is a great example of how I worked my way to a stopping point. Salad Sandwich...? ya oh well they all cant go on for pages, but you get the idea. Topics really don't matter just stay ahead of yourself.. |
